MagnaBlend Chemical Fire
On Monday, October 3, 2011, a catastrophic fire broke out at the MagnaBlend chemical plant in Waxahachie, Texas. The fire was a result of excessive steam produced by a wastewater treatment product in combination with a nearby spark.
While no one was injured on site from the fire, those living in areas near the plant have been adversely affected. The most common claims in relation to the MagnaBlend chemical plant fire include smoke inhalation injuries and displacement claims.
Symptoms of Smoke Inhalation
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency monitored the air shortly after the fire and determined that there were no immediate health hazards regarding poisonous chemicals in the air; however, that does not mean that smoke-inhalation injuries were not possible.

- Shortness of breath
- Hoarseness
- Headaches
- Changes in skin coloration
- Passing out
