Mitsubishi Recalling More Than 700 SUVs for Faulty Wiring

Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling approximately 733 Outlander sports vehicles due to faulty wiring for the seat-mounted airbag. The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 20, 2012 and May 29, 2013, and are equipped with leather seats.

Mitsubishi says the incorrect wiring could result in an illuminated airbag warning light if the seat height adjustment is used. Also, in the event of a car accident, the airbag may not deploy if the wiring has been damaged.

Mitsubishi will notify owners directly, and dealers will inspect and correct the wiring if necessary at no cost to owners. Additionally, if the wiring is damaged, the seat-mounted airbag will be replaced. Mitsubishi owners may contact the manufacturer at 1-800-222-0037 and reference recall number SR-14-001 for more information.
