Subaru Recalls 634,000 Vehicles for Puddle Lamp Wiring Defect
Subaru issued a recall for 634,000 vehicles due to an electrical problem that can start a fire. The puddle lamp wiring in the vehicles can short out when exposed to moisture.
At this time there have been no injuries or accidents, however the automaker has received reports the puddle lamp wiring defect resulting in visible smoke.
While Subaru thinks that only about 50,000 vehicles have the defective puddle lamp wiring, they are recalling over 600,000 vehicles. Subaru is recalling the following models:
- 2006-2012 Tribeca SUVs
- 2009-2012 Forester SUVs
- 2010-2011 Legacy sedans
- 2010-2011 Outback wagons
Owners will be sent notices asking if they have the optional puddle lights on their vehicle. Those who do will need repairs.
