A 19 year old college student was killed on Sunday night when she stuck the center divider on Veterans Parkway in Savannah.  She was said to be traveling north on the highway when she lost control of her pickup and was ejected from the vehicle.

An ambulance transported her to the Memorial University Medical Center where she was then pronounced dead.  While this accident is still under investigation by the Savannah-Chatham Police Department, it is unclear what the cause of the accident was at this time.

In 2009, there were 13 fatal accidents in Savannah, while four were caused by drunk drivers.  These types of accidents are not uncommon throughout the entire state and United States however may be reduced by abiding by the rules of the road and becoming a defensive driver.
