Chatham County Emergency Management Agency officials reported that the heavy rain has caused flooding over several roadways throughout the area.

Reports indicate that over 15 intersections in the county had been flooded by Wednesday evening, while many officials hoped the flooding would be cleared within a few hours.

Throughout the area there were a minimum of 30 power outages leaving nearly 500 customers without electricity.

Officials have indicated that the Ogeechee River near Eden is above the flood stage and is expected to continue rising until early Friday morning. Several meteorologists have also indicated that portions of the Savannah River are also several feet above the flooding stage.
