A family from New York escaped serious injury after a horse pulling a carriage they were riding in was startled and crashed into five vehicles in downtown Savannah. The horse carriage operator, however, was ejected from the coach.

The coach was carrying two women and three children Monday morning when the horse pulling the carriage began running. The incident spanned six blocks; the horse was eventually calmed down with the aid of restaurant employees who fed the animal carrots.

The 37-year-old carriage operator was taken to Memorial University Medical Center, but the extent of her injuries is still unknown.
