On Sunday afternoon four drivers were involved in a wreck on I-95. Around 4:30p.m., a white Cadillac was headed southbound on I-95 when the driver drifted into the right lane and collided with another vehicle. The driver then overcorrected and swerved left, hitting another vehicle. A fourth vehicle then collided with one of the Cadillac’s tires.
The driver of the Cadillac was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is not exactly known.
There were more than 306,000 car collisions reported in Georgia in 2008, the year the most recent statistics are available for. The majority of collisions are those involving other vehicles. In 2006, 25,000 accidents were caused by a driver failing to change lanes properly.
It is important that drivers adhere to the rules of the road and check their blind spots when changing lanes. If your car strikes another, know what to do, as overcorrection can lead to a car rollover or accident pileup.
