After initial reports of a fatal wreck on the Thunderbolt Bridge over the Wilmington River, officials have identified 59-year-old Dianne Bryant of Savannah as the deceased victim.
The collision that killed Bryant involved three vehicles on U.S. 80 just east of the bridge. Around 2:30 p.m., Bryant ran off the shoulder of the highway and struck a traffic sign, veering back onto the road. Bryant’s vehicle then swerved into oncoming traffic and sideswiped a westbound vehicle. Both cars then returned to the eastbound lanes where a third vehicle was struck.
Georgia State Patrol (GSP) says that Bryant died during the accident, though there is no word on what caused the fatal multiple vehicle accident.
The two other drivers were transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, which were described as non-life threatening. GSP says the investigation is ongoing and no further information was available at the time of the report.
The Eichholz Law Firm will continue to monitor the progress of the story and report as more details emerge.
