Ronald Lee Homer, 30, was a lifelong Braves fan who fell to his death Monday night at Turner Field. Homer is said to have been waiting out the rain delay in the fourth-level smoking area. The smoking area has a 42-in railing. Police do not expect foul play is involved and at this time they say the death appears to be accidental. The police report released on Tuesday stated that when paramedics arrived, the Braves fan was unconscious and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
”We are saddened by this tragic incident and will continue our investigation along with the Atlanta Police Department,” said Braves spokesperson Beth Marshall. She then declined to discuss the circumstances of the death and whether or not the Braves were going to make any safety changes. Homer’s father released a statement, which included this plea:
”I would like to see the building built to prevent something like this happening to another family,” he said, ”It should have been better engineered from the jump-street when they built that stadium.”
