Isosorbide is used to treat angina (chest pain) by relaxing the heart’s blood vessels, increases its blood and oxygen supply.
The Ethex Corporation product is now under recall due to a manufacturing error resulting over-sized pills which could potentially lead to an overdose.
The recalled 60mg Isosorbide Mononitrate tablets expiration dates ranged from December 2008 to November 2009, with lot numbers of 63466, 66034, 67351, and 67354.
Side effects include, but are not limited to:
- Gastrointestinal disturbances
- Hypotension (low blood pressure)
- Decreased appetite
- Difficult or slow breathing
- Muscle cramps
- Changes in vision
- Irregular heartbeat
- Skin blushing
