Paxil (Paroxetine) Lawsuit
Doctors prescribe Paxil (paroxetine) to treat patients with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Paroxetine is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). It works by restoring the balance of serotonin in the brain. Paxil is available only through a doctor’s prescription.
However, there have been serious side effects linked to individuals that have used this drug, including infant issues.
Potential Paxil Side Effects
Potential adverse side effects include violent behavior and agitation. Paxil users also may be at risk of suicide. GlaxoSmithKline, the manufacturer of Paxil, already has faced lawsuits linked to the drug.
