BMW Issues Recall for Fire Hazard

BMW of North America has issued two recalls covering nearly 1 million vehicles. The recalls are for two separate issues involving fire risks, even when the car is not in use.

Model years range from 2006-2011, and include 3-Series, 5-Series, 128i, X3 and X5 vehicles. These cars have been known to have overheating issues, resulting in fires.

An ABC News Investigation found that more than 40 vehicle fires have occurred, and 12 of which involved models included in the recall.

With 5 million BMW’s on U.S. roads, this recall impacts a large amount of drivers. 80,000 vehicles in Canada have been recalled, as well.
